There are so many options when it comes to curtains. See below easy tips and top picks!
Floor length blackout curtains give a clean look. If the light is coming through semi sheer floor length curtains this will distract from your curtain design. Also, look for curtains with a little bit of texture. Curtains amount to a lot of fabric, a texture can add a touch of luxury to your room.
Be sure to notice the tops of your curtains and how they are fixed to the curtain rod.

If your curtains are hung where you often open and close the window, consider a more durable metal top like eyelet or pleated clips.
Layering your curtains with sheers can elevate your design. This allows for the richness of blackout curtains, with the option to let natural light in and maintain privacy in bedrooms and bathrooms.
Use a tension rod in your window box to layer your sheers under your blackout curtains.
Be sure to get a quality rod for blackout curtains that can hold the weight without bowing. Use extra wall mounting as needed. Notice the rod color when purchasing. Does it match the hardware on your curtains and in the rest of your home? When hanging a curtain rod over windows be sure to extend your mount several inches past the window for a seemless transition from curtain to wall.
Don't skim on panels. It's worth it to get a few extra panels. The right number of panels gives a full well designed look.
Expert Tip: Once, you have decided on your curtains and layout, go the extra step and sew together panels on wider window. Not so handy with a sewing machine? Use large safety pins to connect the tops of curtains for easier opening and closing.
